There were rumors about HP, Dell and ASUS considering the use of the Android operating system on cheap netbooks, but the first working prototype is Alpha 680, pictured below. The device, having a 533 Mhz ARM11 CPU and a 7", 800 x 600 pixels large touchscreen, has 128 MB of RAM (expandable up to 256 MB), a 1 GB SSD drive, an SD slot, WLAN support, two USB ports and a two cell battery. The 215.9 x 152.4 x 30.5 mm large Alpha 680, weighing 680 grams is expected to hit stores in Q3 at an estimated price of $250 dollars.
