Digia has announced the first, completely finger-controlled web browser for UIQ smartphones. The open webkit-based Digia@Web was designed to have a user interface that is very simple to use. Mobile web browsing is becoming popular thanks to cheaper 3G packets and usually free WLAN access. Digia@Web puts the whole internet on the screen of UIQ 3 smartphones, which then can be easily controlled with fingers. The browser supports JavaScript, display rotation, zooming and auto-completion of addresses. Digia@Web 1.0 is built on the same popular web browser engine that is used in Series 60 smartphones, in Apple's Safari browser or on Google's Android platform. The first open beta edition will be available in June from the company's site, where we can find additional information. You an access it here: www.digia.com/browser
