CeBIT shock: no more iGO in Mio navis!

Nav'n'go has announced minutes earlier, that they immediately stop all supplying activities for Mio.

According to the announcement, Mio has broken the contract, so Nav'n'Go, using his rights given by this contract, terminates further supplies and update services due to current licenses.

The news is shocking because Mio was shipping their navigational devices for years with iGO's MioMap application, designed especially for Mio. This decision can have negative effects mostly on those who have such a device in their possession, as this means that they cannot update anymore their navigation software they bought completely legal.

Th first premonitory signs were already visible today at Mio's stand as all of their exhibited navis were using navigation software from Navman, most of these didn't contain such detailed maps as we were used to.

This is how the Navman interface looks like

Upon our inquiry at the stand, we have been told that Navman and Mio are being merged, and thus no future devices will have the conventional MioMap software, although the name won't change.

Representatives of Mio have confirmed that Mio owners will still get all software and map updates, but according to the announcement from Nav'n'Go this doesn't seem that sure. We shall be visiting Mio's stand again tomorrow and ask: knowing the new information, how do they think to give support for millions of users, if they won't have the possibility in lack of data.
