The Japanese-Swedish manufacturer has announced at this year's Mobile World Congress their first mobile phone made in the spirit of "unlimited entertainment", which doesn't only focus on photography, movie or music playbarck, but it also features a high level of integration of online and social features. The soul of the handset that has a 12 megapixel camera will be the first operating system from the Symbian Foundation, which is based on the Nokia Series 60 platofm and gets some parts of UIQ as well. Steffen Grosch, Sony Ericsson's product manager for Germany has officially confirmed the product's launch date for October (but not later than November), which is in accordance with the estimation for a second semester launch from Gustaf Brusewitz, the Swedish product manager. Sony Ericsson Idou will be only the first member of the new product line dedicated to multimedia, so it is expected to be followed by other similar products.
