The first new-generation touchscreen device from the Japanese-Swedish manufacturer, Xperia X1, has seemed to be a big hit when announced, but as the months passed and the rivals got theirselves together it has been launched as an average handset. Sony Ericsson Idou, announced at this year's Mobile World Congress, also seems to be an advanced device, as its 12 megapixel camera with autofocus and the combined LED-Xenon flash make it completely unique on the market, and this comes in an elegant design, a rather compact size, GPS, WLAN, stereo Bluetooth, a 3.5" nHD (640 x 360 pixels) touchscreen display and the Symbian Series 60 Touch operating system. The handset will finally support the industry standard microSDHC memory card, but the Japanese-Swedish manufacturer still won't put a standard 3.5 mm jack or a microUSB connector on their phone. The handset, planned to be launched in Q3, will probably have some serious rivals. Samsung, after announcing Omnia HD with an 8 megapixel camera and HD (1280 x 720 pixels) video recording, is probably working hard on a 12 megapixel phone as well, which is quite possible, as the South-Korean giant has announced their camera module with this resolution.
