Menu, basic functions
The phone is driven by the well-known Series 40 platform. This system has become something quite mature over the years: its customizability and the multitude of services offered can please our every needs nowadays. It looks very well on this display, not like on the poor 3110 Classic. I would rate its speed as medium, but this time I cannot refer to a faster Samsung phone, since compared to the E950 it still behaves like a racing car.
The 9 icons of the main menu are laid out in a grid. The active stand-by function can be activated on the stand-by screen but even without it we won’t be in trouble finding anything in the menu as it has a completely logical structure. The phone book has a maximum capacity of 2000 names, which names can have extra entries like nickname or birth date. It is unknown how many SMS messages can be stored, whereas the MMS messages are stored in the non-expandable internal memory which has a size of 1 GB (of which 939 Megabytes can be used freely). There is an authenticated e-mail client capable of handling attachments. The Internet can be browsed with the Nokia browser or with the pre-installed Opera Mini.
There is nothing new in the category of organizer functions, but there is no need for anything as these are completely all right. There is a calendar with week and month views, a customizable alarm clock functioning even when the phone is turned off, to-do list and a notepad. The sound recorder is capable of recording sounds with a maximum length of 1 hour, however sound calling and voice commands are functions missing from the 6500 Classic.
