The 5xxx series from Nokia has been a place for a long time for phones with dust-, scratch- and water-resistance, but this series has faded away since then and nowadays it houses musical phones. According to rumors the series designed for an active lifestyle is about to be resurrected. It won't be a rival of Sonim phones, but it will offer protection against above average physical shocks.

The first member of the new series is expected to be Nokia 3720, pictured below, which has no detailed specs revealed yet, but we do know that it is IP54-certified, so it resists water and dust to some extent.
