After five years of successful leadership, Arun Sarin, Vodafone CEO has resigned, and his seat is taken by his assistant, Vittorio Colao. Arun Sarin has taken over the company in July 2003. Thanks to his new strategy Vodafone Group has achieved outstanding results, and has expanded successfully in Romania, in the Czech Republic, in Turkey and in India. The acquisition of Inidian Hutchison Essar has been an important moment for India too, as this has been the largest external acquisition in the country. Last year Vodafone Group had a total revenue of 11 billion GBP, which is 4.2% more than in the previous year. During the time which Arun Sarin has been CEO, the number of Vodafone clients has increased from 120 million to 260 million. The company's success is also reflected by the 400% increase of the stock values.
