Mobile Internet usage has become increasingly popular in recent years thanks to increasing speed and reliability of data packets that have a decreasing price. It is, however, not very pleasant to surf on the small screen of a cell phone and type text on its numeric keypad. That's why Portuguese Vodafone launched a NetPC package, that includes an ASUS EeePC 701 mini notebook with a 7" display and a Vodafone Connect Pen USB adapter that provides 7.2 megabit HSDPA access. The laptop, weighing only 1 kilogram, has a 800 x 480 pixel display and a full QWERTY keyboard, thus providing a comfortable access to the world wide web almost anywhere. The package with the Linux-based notebook is €199 EUR with an 18-month fidelty contract, while the Windows XP edition costs €229 EUR. It is not yet known if the Vodafone NetPC package will be available in any other region.
