American Verizon - just like most networks - doesn't really like WLAN in their handsets, as users can avoid using the mobile network and can still access high-speed internet and even free VoIP calls. Verizon has been recently launching almost only WLAN-free handsets, so it has been rumored about Samsung Omnia's CDMA/EV-DO edition, SCH-i910, that it can access the internet only via the mobile network. New information and the qualification from WiFi Alliance make it unambiguous that the variant made for Verizon will be almost the same as the GSM/HSDPA edition.
