HTC started shipping their Touch Diamond models at the end of May, so it takes them about five months to sell one million of them. Peter Chou, CEO of HTC has told that they are shipping the one millionth device by mid-August, so not even three months are needed to reach the milestone. HTC has originally planned to sell two million Touch Diamond smartphones during this year, which will surely be possible. According to Taiwanese market analysts two and a half or even three million HTC Diamonds might be sold this year. In order to satisfy the ever increasing demands the company is starting their factory near Shanghai this October, which will primarily manufacture EDGE and other devices that are massively produced. Chou has also reported that their company is working with a 34-35 percent gross margin, which is higher than usual on the market.
