Skype calls on conventional cell phones

Hirdetés

The name of Skype, providers of free internet-based calls, is probably well known by many of you. The company now makes Skype calls available for users of conventional mobile phones through a free Java application, although calls are not completely free. Voice-based calls are not realized through data packets, but through standard mobile calls. Making calls is limited to people in Brazil, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Poland, Sweden and UK, while receiving them is quite expensive. Sending messages is free besides the data transfer. According to the comapny's estimation with 20 Skype contacts and signing in twice a day for a total of 90 minutes, IMing for about 25 minutes each day and making 20 minutes of Skype calls one would use just under 1 MB of data in one month. Accepting calls has other costs. If someone would like to make calls should rather get a smartphone, as due to limitations and costs mentioned above, Skype for cell phones is far from being ideal for such purposes.
