Google has recently launched its online app store at full capacity, and now not only free, but paid applications are available as well, although not everyone can access these. The Android Dev Phone 1 (aka. HTC Dream), which is SIM-free by default, costs 400 dollars, but its owners won't have access to paid software, since the unlocked model has administrator rights and the apps would be easy to copy. The recently announced Android 1.1 software has an odd solution to the problem, it allows some paid applications to be bought, but only those that make no use of the system's copy-protection. This means that the new software still doesn't solve the problem and possibly it won't, as all the Android system's copy-protection solution does is that it puts protected content in a folder that is unaccessible by default, but the developer edition has access to these files as well.
