Series 60 gets BlackBerry support again

Hirdetés

A phone is a business model not only because its made of metal or because it has a QWERTY keyboard and a cheaper camera, but because it supports Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF and ZIP files, it can access VPN networks and thanks to its advanced PIM and messaging features it provides access to business mailing, contact list and calendar. Nokia E71 had support for RIM BlackBerry business emailing without any additional software, but a later software update removed this feature. We don't know what did exactly happen, but RIM and Nokia are rivals on the market of business smartphones, so it might be understandable from a strategical point of view that the Finnish manufacturer preferred Microsoft Exchange Servers and IBM Lotus Notes, used by 90 percent of the companies, so new Eseries models support both Microsoft and IBM business systems, while Mail on OVI provides a complete emailing solution for standard models, featuring multiple accounts that can be created directly from the phone. According to Reuters, however, owners of Eseries business models won't stay without BlackBerry support, as RIM, in cooperation with Nokia, is developing its own client for Series 60 smartphones. It is not yet known when will the new software be ready, but the lack of support for the service has been called only a temporary situation by Nokia.
