If we have a look at Samsung's product range we shouldn't be surprised by the fact that every fourth recent touchscreen phone is made by the South-Korean manufacturer. The foundation of the new-gen touchscreen solution, created by Apple iPhone, is that it leaves complicated menus and styluses behind, these being replaced by huge menus that are easy to control with a finger and that are visually provocative. Samsung has very quickly recognized the possibilities that come with this solution and even if they couldn't launch such a comfortable menu as Apple's, thanks to their cheaper and technologically advanced solutions they have managed to obtain dominance in this segment. In order to achieve this they didn't only use an expandable operating system, but their own solutions as well, which can be used in cheaper handsets as well. About half a million Samsung F480s (pictured below) are sold monthly, so the 5 million milestone has been achieved a long time ago. Omnia i900 owns 18 percent of the touchscreen smartphone market in Germany, 17% in France and 15% in Italy, which is an unbelievable performance for a single model. Omnia HD, surpassing even Nokia N97 in technology, is also based on Symbian Series 60 Touch, and it will further strengthen the manufacturer's dominance, even more since besides LG the rivals are not very active in this segment.
