eInk displays are good not only as standard phone displays, but also as special phone cases, a good example being the Reflex LCD Electronic Skin display from Kent Displays. The displays that can be cut to any shape can display coral red, lavender, white, black, sky blue, dark blue, green and mint colors, have no proprietary light source and require energy only for changing their color. The single-layer coatings can display a single color at a time, while dual-layer coatings can have different colors for each layer. The displays, being flexible for an arc of up to 1 cm, weight 8.9 mg/cm2 and need only 0.7 mW of energy per square centimeter for a second when changing color.
