For the European Palm fans eagerly anticipating the release of their latest smartphone, the Centro, the wait is over, as today, it has been released in selected European markets. It retails at around 299 EUR SIM-free and will first be available in the company's online shop. The Centro is yet another smartphone from Palm, its smallest one to date. The Centro offers a 1.3 Megapixel Camera, MicroSD card slot, large, bright QVGA screen, and, full QWERTY keyboard, to name but a few features. The handset with a size of 107.2 x 53.6 x 18.6 mm is based on Palm OS 5.4.9, supports GPRS/EDGE 580/900/1800/1900 networks and has 64MB of internal memory which can be expanded with a microSD card. It has a 1150 mAh battery, which offers 4 hours of talk time. The device's success in Europe is questionable, as compared to its price, it has very few features. For such a price, one could obtain a much better, HSDPA- and WiFi-capable smartphone with QWERTY keyboard from Nokia, Samsung, Motorloa or Sony Ericsson.
