Orange: SMS is outdated

A survey, made on behalf of Orange, shows that SMS might soon be forgotten. The survey, made by TNS, examined the habits of 17.000 subscribers from 30 countries. Most of the youths, who are used to instant messaging services, like MSN or AIM, send text messages very rarely. From one hundred SMS, MMS and e-mail messages sent by those who don't use IM applications, 38 are conventional text messages, while the percent of SMS messages decreased to 23 amongst IM users. Matthew Kirk, director of Orange business solutions, says that the elderly still prefer text messages. Orange clients send an average of 1.3 billion messages monthly, which number has increased by 21% during the last three months.
