Although negotiations about closing down Nokia's factory near Bochum are still in progress, the factory near Kolozsvár (Cluj Napoca) is being started up. The Finnish manufacturer hopes to save huge amounts of money with this project. The factory at Nemeszsuk (Jucu de mijloc), that had a cost of 60 million EUR, is currently operating with only 200 employees, but this number is expected to grow to approx. 3500 until the end of 2009. The investment's total value is expected to reach as much as 120 million EUR. Nokia has a 30 years contract, during which period they are exempt from paying property tax. If they are to leave sooner than 30 years, all taxes have to payed retroactively.
