There were some news earlier about British O2 planning to sell Apple iPhone 3G in a prepaid package too, but now there are exact details available. Beginning from September 16, the new iPhone model will be available without a need to sign a fidelity contract, in 8 and 16 GB editions, at prices of £399 and £499 GBP. The quite high price of course offers some extra functions too. For example there is unlimited WLAN access for one year, after which it can be used for a fee of £10 GBP. The prepaid package doesn't contain the Visual Voicemail service, but just like at other O2 prepaid packages, there is an unlimited talk package available for a fee.
