Australian Kogan manufactures an Android phone

Google's Android platform has inspired many companies because its free, open and simple to install. The advantage of the system is that handset manufacturers don't have to take care about features, services and applications, as part of the handsets' features are provided by the Android platform, while the other part includes Google's continuously evolving online services. Music download is provided by the Amazon online store and applications come from the Android Market. This means that manufacturers have nothing left to do besides putting together an appropriate hardware, install Adnroid and the product is ready. The attractive opportunity has inspired Kogan, known for their LCD monitors, as well, and teh Asutralian company has decided to launch their first Android phone before the Christmas season, at an estimated price of $199 USD. The handset's specs are yet uknown, but WLAN, GPS and a touchscreen are almost sure.
