Digital Imaging Systems (DIS) has announced their latest 9 megapixel camera module, developed for cell phones, which can be seen lice at Photokina in Köln. DIS6931, equipped with a high-quality lens, mechanical shutter, neutral color filter (ND filter) and high-quality image sensor, provides ultra high speed focusing and exposure and thus provides the image quality of standard digital cameras for cell phones. The full camera module can focus in less than 0.3 seconds and exposure delay has been decreased below 0.2 seconds. The new module that can be inserted in the place of previous members of the series without hardware modifications, can take 3488 x 2616 pixels large images or record 1280 x 720 pixels large progressive HDTV videos (720p) at 30 fps. The DIS6931 full camera module, with a 14 x 15 x 9.2 mm large 1/2.5" CMOS image sensor and a 5.56 mm focal distance lens, is equipped with Xenon and LED drivers too, consumes less than 175 mW. The first pieces are already available for manufacturers, mass production starting at Q4 this year.
