Nowadays an on-board memory of 8 or even 16 gigabytes is not rare in high-end phones, which is enough for even storing videos besides pictures and music. Usually cheaper handsets in the mid-range don't have a gigantic storage space, but by supporting microSDHC cards its easy to extend their capacity up to 32 GB, at least theoretically. Currently there aren't many cards of this size available and not all phones support them, but a 16 GB version is available from SanDisk, and now Kingston, known for cheaper devices, has also launched a large card. The speed of the new storage card is not yet known, but based on being a "class 2" card, we shouldn't expect it to be one of the fastest ones available.
