Phone calls, data transfer

The phone is a tri-band one (900/1800/1900 MHz), it doesn’t support third generation networks, so we can only use GPRS and EDGE for data transfer. USB and Bluetooth are of version 2.0, the latter support stereo sound (A2DP). During phone calls I had no problem with sound quality or reception, although I’ve been missing the dedicated volume control keys.

The contact list can store 2000 entries; there are plenty of extra fields. The call log can display received/dialed/missed calls in one list or on separate ones; the 20 most recent ones are stored of each of these. We have 26 MB of free memory by default, but this can be expanded with a microSD card – unfortunately the socket is under the battery, so we have to take that out in order to insert a memory card. We could use the data cable as an alternative solution, as the handset supports Mass Storage mode, but there’s no cable inside the package.

The phone is fine with messaging as it can send/receive text, multimedia and e-mail messages, the client supports authenticated IMAP servers. The browser is no big deal, but it might come in handy in emergency as it’s easy to use, but it will be slow on EDGE.
