Introduction, packaging
It looks like the prism-mania was the best for HTC of all the manufacturers, Touch Diamond has incredible sales. The reason for this is not necessarily the interesting back of course, but still, these shiny geometrical shapes are the ones that identify the handset. The Taiwanese company has of course exploited this advantage, thus we have the third such device for testing. The handset called Rose can be classed easily by those who know the manufacturer’s portfolio, as based on its model number (S740) we can see that this is the latest member of the series that started with Vox, so it’s a smartphone with a sliding keyboard, based on Windows Mobile.
Our regular readers probably know what my opinion is of WM’s non-touchscreen edition: it’s outdated. Or I could say that the system is a dead end for development in Microsoft’s life, Symbian S60 is more advanced and faster in practically all aspects, but it still has a market, which is proved by Rose. So I have been excited to take the phone supplied by SpeedShop in my hands, as I’ve been very curious about what HTC could do with this platform.
Diamonds or not, S740 came in a completely average, black box that had a charger, a data cable and a stereo headset inside besides the handset, which is not too much, I must say.
