Sony Ericsson phones with a built-in GPS module have already had their software from Wayfinder, which has downloaded the required maps via internet connection. These were usually based on TeleAtlas, but a while back W760 had TopMap POIs and information.

The two companies are planning to cooperate even closer. On one hand Xperia's factory default supported software will be Wayfinder (along with this, thanks to the Windows Mobile platform, iGO8 will also run on it), but besides this we will meet the application in more and more Sony Ericsson phones, as it has a Java version too.

In the future Sony Ericsson and Wayfinder will follow the Nokia model: they will supply pre-installed maps with the handsets so no internet connection will be required, but navigation will be available only via a separate subscription, whose price will depend mostly on the time interval for which we want to subscribe and the regions which we will want to use.
