In the previous news article we have reported in details about Sony Ericsson's press conference where they have announced their new phones. We have taken a look at S302 too. As it has already turned out, the manufacturer created the S series for "amateur photographers", at least that's what they say. Regarding this, there is a question that immediately comes into my mind: will a "pro" photographer even consider taking a C905, for example, in his hands? So what does the manufacturer mean by "amateur"? Going further, why did they have to continue - and change - the S series, which has already been in use? There are lots of other letters in the alphabet that would have resulted in a much more transparent product portfolio and that would have avoided confusion. We shouldn't be thinking too much on this, as the answer is prosaic: S is for Snapshot.
S302, with a 2 megapixel fixed focus camera, is the successor of K550i, which is evident from the design. Still, its use of materials is not of a high quality, if I would have to describe it, I'd say it is something like "shellacked plastic". It looks nice, but it gets dirty quickly and its not pleasant to touch. Its price will be much lower than the successor's, if all goes well it will be priced below €82 EUR, SIM-free. Her are the pictures:
