Nokia and recycled materials

Hirdetés

It will take few years to launch mass production of cellphones made of recycled materials, said a Nokia spokesperson. Nokia expects to promote the recycling technology in cellphones. Remember that the company introduced the "Remade" concept phone at 3GSM Congress in February 08, which is made of recycled materials including aluminum cans and internal parts of old models. About 40-60% of metal parts in Nokia’s current phones consist of recycled materials, reported Markus Terho, a director at Nokia’s environmental affairs unit. He also added that environmental-friendly production doesn't necessarily mean an increase of costs. For example, by producing smaller packages in early 2006, the company saved €100 million on transport and material costs by the end of 2007.
