The company's Vice President, Marco Boerries, has emphasized that Apple's phone and the user experience provided by that has been Yahoo!'s inspiration for creating a multilateral, user-friendly interface.

What is a smartphone in fact?

With this step, the company has joined Google's philosophy of getting as much information as possible about the user, packing it in a shiny, easy-to-use service which can be pushed out to the ordinary users through the filter of already existing services.

They have everything they need in order to achieve it, everything one could need on an average day: searching, news, e-mail, instant messaging, contact list, calendar, maps and access to the most popular community websites.

Using the software is extremely simple, voice recognition can be used for entering data and our contacts can be handled in every possible way and events can be attached to them, thus making the communication difficulties of our virtual life much simpler.

The company will provide the software through a web interface and as a downloadable application for Windows Mobile, Symbian, BlackBerry and iPhone platforms, while the web access will be available on every other phone, as Yahoo! considers all phones as smartphones as soon as they can run an HTML browser.

The online, web-based service will be available in a month, while the downloadable application should be coming by the end of May.
