The 5-year exclusive cooperation between Orange and Apple in France has been judged as being illegal. Apple and the subsidiary of France Telecom, Orange Telecom France, had such a cooperation agreement that made Orange the exclusive retailer of Apple iPhone and iPhone 3G phones in France. Due to the decision of the court, iPhone 3G is now not only available from other network operators, but in a contract-free edition as well, although the price is rahter high. While due to a similar decree in Belgium the SIM-free price of the 8 and 16 GB models is 529 and 619 euros, these two cost 799 and 899 euros in France.
