The thin border between mobile phones and netbooks seems to slowly fade away, a proof being that some netbooks appear at telecommunication providers as standalone offers with internet packages. While smartphones get larger and larger screens, more memory and faster processors, laptops are becoming smaller and lighter. The recently announced 1 GHz Marvell PXA168 processor can make the border between laptops and smartphones even thinner, as it offers a performance close to Intel Atom's CPU for phones and PDAs, while maintaining a low power consumption and the manufacturer also plans that some cheaper Linux- or Windows CE-based netbooks can also be based on the new CPU. Marvell PXA168 can offer the full experience of browsing, as besides supporting most video and sound formats, it can easily handle websites filled with Flash contents. The price and launch date of Marvell's new CPU haven't been revealed yet.
