Sony Ericsson has announced new panels for its Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional-based Xperia X1 phone. The panels, designed for the Facebook and Microsoft Live community portals, further extend the range of multimedia features, which already includes access to Dashwire, providing online content sharing. The new Facebook panel allows putting contact images easily on the stanby screen, and upon touching them new functions become available with the help of an icon-based interface, but sharing our pictures is just as simple. The new Windows Live panel brings the whole set of Microsoft Live services to the phone. By using a Windows Live ID one can access Windows Live contacts, the Hotmail email system, Live Messenger and Live Search as well. The panel will probably be extended with additional functions throughout the year, but practically the most important functions are already available.
