The phonebook - in numbers - satisfies our needs, because it can store 1000 names. The ‘how’ is more interesting, because the highly respected customer usually wants to search for names in the book, but for at the beginning Giorgio will hiccup a lot. Firstly, the list can be rolled with or without success, but the bigger problem is that if you success the letters come very slowly on the screen. Searching for the beginning letters of a name is useful and after choosing this the phone gives us a small keyboard to type in the letters, but it is so small that mistyping is more often than a correct touch.
The message writing has the same problem. A virtual button of a letter is smaller than a finger pad, so the user has to aim well - and as I’ve mentioned before - no vibration here. The T9 helps a bit, but writing an SMS is a torture, and during the testing time after writing a longer message I tried to keep a message as short as I could. Besides MMS and SMS the phone can handle e-mail accounts - receiving at least, because no one would want to reply with a keyboard like this. However, this Samsung is good with authenticated SMTP-servers and possible attachments.
The calendar gets good marks for being able to be put out on the basic screen. If we use it through the menu, the weekly and monthly part comes in graphic mode, the daily is shown in a list. The notes can be sorted in three categories (like in every Samsung): meetings, anniversaries and to-dos, and the phone can store 1000 from each. It’s good, but I wish there was no need to type… The clock has the usual options, alarms when the phone is turned off, too.
