Palm Pré's operating system, webOS, has become fully accessible and so the disassembly process has started. The 195 MB large file contains the full webOS system and all pre-installed applications, so by decompiling it the hacking of the phone and the development of new software could start just as fast as in the case of iPhone, which didn't allow third-party software to be run at the time of its announcement - at least theoretically.

Pré, available in the United States with CDMA and EV-DO support, would not be usable in Europe evean after unclocking the SIM-lock, but by the time of the launch of the HSDPA edition there will be a number of not fully legal applications available for the handset, which was planned to be opened up only for widget development in the first place.
