Samsung has announced the latest in their Dual Standby range, the D780, which features double SIM slots and the ability to register to two accounts simultaneously. While add-on SIM holders that allow two cards to be fitted have been available for some time now, they usually require a power-cycle to swap between the two; the D780, however, can receive calls on either account at any time, and users can readily choose which number to dial out from.
It opens up possibilities for business users to carry a single handset rather than separate personal and company phones, or of having two accounts which offer better call and messaging tariffs at different times. The D780 has a 2.1-inch QVGA display, 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0 and a slot for microSD cards up to 2GB in size.
The Samsung Dual Standby D780 is expected in Russia in May, with availability in Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East shortly after. Price is yet to be announced.
