Motorola has officially announced their two new, cheap handsets that have musical features. Both phones will be available in September on the Asian market at first. Related to the announcement it has been said that Motorola is planning to announce 50 other phones this year and this includes high-end devices too.
W388
These two models are more for the masses. W388 will cost less then €105 EUR, but it will support only GPRS networks, has a phonebook with space for 1000 entries and it can store 750 messages. The phone will have a VGA camera and a 128 x 160 pixels large display, an MP3 player and stereo FM radio with RDS support. The first requires some storage space too, so the phone has a microSD slot.
VE538
The other phone has somewhat better specs. VE538 is also a musical handset, but it has 3G support, a 2 megapixel camera and a QVGA display. The size of the internal memory is only 10 MB, but this phone also has a microSD slot. VE538 is told to be manufactured bu BenQ for Motorola, but this information has not yet been officailly confirmed by anyone.
During the announcement, Motorola's leader of the cell phone department in Asia, Ian Chapman-Banks have told that people nowadays do not buy products anymore, but they but dreams, solutions that are offered by the product.
