Slant slider from HTC

Hirdetés

After clamshell, slider, turnable, flip and God knows what kind of other form factors we could think that nothing new can be invented. Fortunately reality always disproves this. Recently Sony Ericsson Xperia has surprised the public with their simple, but still ingenious slider, and now HTC shows us something completely new. The protagonist of the patent shown above is a slider phone that has a much longer keyboard part than the part containing the display. usually this means that there is a conventional phone keypad under the display. The upper and lower parts of the phone are not connected to each other with the conventional side tracks, but they move on a skew track, that is sliding the display down also makes it move sideways. After sliding the display, the formerly covered part of the keyboard becomes visible, thus making the full QWERTY keyboard accessible. We hope that the ingenious solution is to be embedded in a real device. Until then it's worth taking a look at the graphic to see how did HTC imagine their latest QWERTY communicator.
