Samsung offers both handsets with an expandable operating system and lots of touchscreen phones with a closed system, these being different from their counterparts in only that they can be expanded only with Java apps or widgets, due to the same user interface and about the same features.
Samsung S8000, pictured below, is also a similarly interesting offer, since in spite of having a closed operating system, it still features a rather powerful hardware. The handset sports a 3.1", 480 x 800 pixels large AM-OLED touchscreen display, a 5 megapixel camera with video recording at 720 x 480 pixels, GPS, WLAN, stereo Bluetooth and HSDPA support, DivX player, 2-8 GB of internal memory, a microSDHC card slot, an 800 MHz CPU and 1,100 mAh battery. The 108.8 x 53.5 x 11.9 mm large Samsung S8000, weighing 110 grams, will be available as of Q3 at a yet unknown price.
