Quickoffice 6.0 is under development

On the occasion of Symbian Smartphone Show in London, the Quickoffice 6.0 office software suite for Symbian Series 60 handsets has been announced, which brings remote file access and a number of new security functions. One of the key new features of the the software - that is currently still in development and expected to become availabe in early 2009 - is that it can access documents shared at Apple MobileMe iDisk, FilesAnywhere and Box.net, and Microsoft SharePoint files on comapny networks. Another new feature of Quickoffice 6.0 is the support for password-protected files and it can open, edit and modify documents inside Zip files, which documents can be saved back inside the Zip file afterwards. The Adobe Mobile Reader, coming as a part of the software suite, has been updated as well, it now handles complex PDF files faster.
