Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner, CEO of Opera, in his interview for New York Times, has reported that although the iPhone version of Opera Mini is done, Apple doesn't make it possible the application to be uploaded to the official online store, as that could be a rival of Safari. The news is true, but meanwhile the head of Opera has added some more details to the news report. The iPhone edition of Opera Mini has been in fact just an internal project, created to make use of the possibilities of touchscreens. The application itself has been made with Apple's standard service development kit (SDK), but its licence agreement has some parts that block developers from creating some kinds of software, like an alternative web browser for example. So Opera Mini hasn't been banned after being made, but the licence agreement of the Apple SDK has blocked it from start. No matter the method, the fact doesn't change: Opera Mini cannot exist on iPhone.
