Apple blocked Opera Mini

Hirdetés

Probably no one doubts that Apple's iPhone Safari browser - although it doesn't support Flash - is one of the most comfortable browser's on the market. Besides standard HTML pages it supports Word, Excel and PDF files as well. Still, many like the Java application Opera Mini even more than the advanced smartphone browser. Opera provides an even faster experience by pre-processing data on their own servers, thus the phone has to download much less data. Opera Mini is ready for Apple iPhone as well, but Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner, CEO of Opera, has recently reported in an interview at New York Times that Apple doesn't allow uploading the application to the official online store, as that would be a rival to Safari. So no matter the SDK, iPhone is still not a phone with a completely open operating system, as Apple can block access to any application if they want to, even if that poses a minimal threat to their business interests.
