Nokia gave up its mobile TV department

Hirdetés

According to Reuters Nokia has recently sold its mobile television department, which had the task of developing and testing hardware and software components required for mobile TV. The department, now owned by Wipro, has only 40 employees and had a decreasing importance for the Finnish company as HSPA+ and upcoming 4G networks have an appropriate bandwith for broadcasting realtime multimedia contents, so constructing, operating and supporting separate DVB-H and other mobile television-specific networks becomes unnecessary.
