New E-ink displays for mobiles

Hirdetés

The name E-ink suggest electronic ink, although it is sometimes also called as electronic paper. The display itself really does look like a printed sheet of paper, that has been first used by Motorola F3 in the world of mobile phones. Although the device of the American manufacturer is far from being perfect, the "display that remembers" is still an interesting piece, as it has an exceptionally low power consumption. The reason for this is that the E-ink display doesn't require any energy when displaying a picture, electricity is needed only when redrawing content, which can be stored for an almost unlimited time afterwards. The new E-ink SDC displays are thinner than the previous ones and are easier to form, so they can even be applied to 3D surfaces, thus not only flat pictures can be displayed. The thinner E-ink SDC, with a greater resistance to heat, can be made up of conventional pixels, can be segmented (like in calculators or in Motorola F3), icon-based or a mixture of these. The display that can be manufactured  and filled with content according to unique requests, might be mostly ideal for electronic books, intellegient keys, intelligent price lables and low-end cell phones or secondary displays, as these are the devices where low power consumption and excellent readability are a primary goal, but there is no need for a backlight, or it can be replaced with a frontal light.
