N-Gage to have a difficult period

Hirdetés

According to the report from Reuters the Finnish manufacturer isn't at all optimistic about next year's expansions in the mobile gaming industry. Jaakko Kaidesoja, Nokia's director of gaming and multimedia said that the gaming industry will not have a serious expansion in 2009 either, but the expansions doesn't only have financial, but technical limitations as well. Kaidesoja thinks that pre-installing games on N-Gage handsets would be great help and instead of complicated credit card payments it should be possible to pay through the network operator. According to game developer EA Mobile the launch of the N-Gage service hasn't been spectacular enough and thus he also called the platform a bit immature that comes with an overcomplicated certification process. EA Mobile also said that iPhone games sold in Italy produce twice as much profit for the company. Nokia's gaming market strategy isn't clear either, as more and more N-Gage models lack a 3D accelerator and furthermore Nokia 5800 XpressMusic currently has no N-Gage suport. This is no wonder, as the first touchscreen N-Gage phone is expected only by the second half of 2009. According to rumors it is possible that the manufacturer will launch a "Comes With Games" service, which, similarly to "Comes With Music", will provide unlimited game downloads for a yearly fee.
