Motorola already had some interesting new technological advancements and this hasn't changed at all. The American giant has recently announced that they see great possibilities in real-time virtualization solutions and so they have invested in the VirtualLogix project. VirtualLogix's solution is capable of running multiple operating systems on a mobile device in a such a way that these share resources, but meanwhile the system takes care of the secure, fast and real-time scheduling of them. This means that, contrary to popular belief, we won't be choosing what OS to start when turning on the phone, but practically all systems would be booting at the same time. The solution would create new possibilities for manufacturers in the first place, as software and components don't have to be created for every OS, as thanks to virtualization they would be running on their native system. These operating systems don't have to know about each other, as the VLX Virtualizer takes care of CPU, memory and other resource usage, but even inter-OS communication can is possible. With the help of this solution, manufacturers can install applications on a phone that were originally written for another OS, and these could be running together without the user noticing it. Devices based on the solution from VirtualLogix would mean a great deal of liberty for users too, due to them being platform-independent.
