Motorola cuts back on developers

Hirdetés

The once-second Motorola, who was planning to take over the lead from Nokia, is now only the third on the marker and it is absolutely not sure that its decline will end here. We have previously seen as Motorola's top leaders have left the sinking ship and then the company sacked the British design team. Now it was the company's turn again to sack, it shrinks the size of the Motorola Labs development team to half, by sacking 150 developer engineers responsible for long-term research and 180 other developers are transferred to other departments. After the changes Motorola Labs will have around 300 people and propably the well-sounding "Motorola cuts back on developers" naming doesn't help much. The American manufacturer's decision to cut back on researchers and designers is very questionable, as Motorola has already been known as being very slow to react to changes on the market. The leader of the new department will be Dan Moloney, who has been previoulsy leading the company's network and set-top box division. It has not yet been revealed what projects will be shut down, but by the mobile phone department's division in 2009 it is almost sure that the company won't be investing large sums in cell phone research.
