Upon the initiative of GSMA an agreement has born regarding that the largest network operators will take common steps, based on common guidelines, against child pornography spreading on mobile networks.
The following companies have joined the union: Hutchinson, mobilkom austria, Orange, TIM, O2, the Telenor group, TeliaSonera, T-Mobile, Vodafone and dotMobi. All of the companies enlisted are present on more markets, so it the global attribute of the union seems to be assured.
Regarding the cooperation the operators will take care of instantly removing any content appearing on the Internet and mobile interface provided by them, that might be in connection with child pornography. They will also provide a hot-line for their users where they can announce these cases. The cooperation also assures a continuous flow of information in this matter between the providers.
The agreement and the ambition have both been appreciated by all concerned providers and organizations, although based on the declarations everybody thinks that that on mobile networks there is no spread (or barely at all) of childporn for the time being, but preventive tasks cannot be started soon enough.
