Microsoft planning to acquire RIM

According to market analysts there is a high chance that Microsoft is planning to acquire RIM. The quotation of Research In Motion (RIM) shares has dropped from $150 USD to $68 USD in the last couple of months, which might drop even further due to the unfavorable financial situation. Peter Misek, market analyst at Canaccord Adams, has reported to Reuters that RIM might be a great buy for Microsoft from a strategical point of view. Microsoft currently has about 23 billion dollars in cash, while the value of RIM is about 38 billion dollars. According to analysts the slowdown of Windows Mobile handsets' market, the delay of a number of models, the success of Apple iPhone and the new, open Google Android platform will soon force the software giant to take a step.
