It looks like the megapixel-war of compact cameras is coming to the world of cell phones as well. Although the Finnish Nokia didn't yet start to fight, Sony Ericsson, LG and Samsung have already launched 8 megapixel cameras, 720 x 480 pixels large and 120 fps super-slow-motion movies, Dolby technology and DivX players. According to Jeremy Newing, head of LG marketing for UK, their company will announce such solutions next year where the number of megapixels will be a two-digit number, but optical zooming capability has not yet been mentioned.

Andy Glasson from DivX has told that their company has been working for a long time on such a H.264 codec that would make phones capable of recording and playing back HD videos, so this is expected to be the next step for LG who has a strong relationship with DivX. Jonathan Jowitt from Dolby Labs has emphasized that LG KC910, created together with LG, is just the first phone, but the two companies are planning to launch more handsets with Dolby Mobile certification and unlimited music downloading is expected to be packed with them, just like in the case of Nokia and Sony Ericsson.Besides this it will be an important step for LG in next year to announce GPS-based navigatyion and voice-recognition commands, but the Korean developers are also working hard on a coating that provides a shiny surface withoug collecting fingerprints.
