Currently there is no real race on the market of heavy-duty phones, as a matter of fact we can count the number of handsets on our hand. Motorola tries to fill in this gap with their latest handset, which has the fantastic code number VA76r, but creative people prefer the name "Tundra". The model is available since January 13 from AT&T in America, at a price of $200 USD, with a two-year subscription.
The terminator goes to the tundra
When creating the phone, the manufacturer made use of one of the USA military standards (US810F MIL for those interested), which assures customers that the handset has protection against dust, high humidity and breakage. The interior is not usual for such a model, as instead of a low-end mobile we get an upper mid-range device. Tundra, beside support for normal GSM networks, can function on WCDMA and HSDPA networks as well (although I have no idea about network coverage on the tundra), it sports a 2 megapixel camera and 100 MB of internal memory and a microSD slot, besides support for Bluetooth. In order to help navigation it also features aGPS.
